Client Loves How Gorgeous and Reflective Her Marble Counters Turned Out!

After hiring us to fix a mysterious issue with her limestone floor, our client added marble countertop polishing to the list. Her limestone, installed during a kitchen makeover just a few years ago, had developed unusual problems. Four things were in our favor:

Instead, and like the aforementioned clients, they were impressed that we offered a full-on stone and marble restoration program. Not a novice treatment, our techniques involved a full restoration plan consistent with the stone restoration industry standards.

2. We arrived with a tile and stone installation expert. While our focus was restoration, having an installation specialist available ensured that any underlying issues could be addressed. Fortunately, no installation-related problems were found—just restoration needs. His presence, however, reassured the homeowners that they were making the right choice by working with us.

We provided a comprehensive solution, offering professional care for nearly every surface in their home—tile and grout cleaning, carpet cleaning, wood floor care, and all stone surface restoration. But unlike carpet cleaners who pretend to be stone restoration contractors or wood refinishers, we have gone through training and certifications to be proficient (not half baked) in both industries. Moreover, we have invested heavily in all the expensive equipment needed to deliver credible work. Though the marble was in decent shape, even these few short years of cooking had left some etch marks and dulled its shine. A quick restoration and polishing tune-up brought it back to its former glory!

The work

• Take the utmost time in prepping the work area. This included draping and taping plastic sheeting from under the counters down to the floor surface. This not only protected all the lower cabinetry, it also protected the La Cornue Oven. La Cornue, now the 2nd one we’ve encountered on a jobsite, is regarded as a masterpiece of cooking excellence. And for our purposes protecting it so our work can be done is of utmost importance!
• Determining the number of diamond grinding passes, to “get under” the dulled surface and the etch marks. While the color of the marble dictates the number of grinding passes, there is a keen eye, awareness and focus that these passes actually do succeed in removing the damaged layer.
• Re-hone, clean, seal, and powder polish the marble to restore its brilliance.  Although a routine stone counter restoration and polishing, this went well. Having the right tools, supplies, training and experience makes a big difference here, and for all our stone work. Forget the fast buck treatment, years of experience paid off for this customer for sure!

The results

Actually the work went quickly and was professionally executed. And the homeowners are really pleased!

The counter tops brilliance and reflecting of light was beautifully restored! Now adding to the other stone work, this kitchen is once again the ‘talk of the town’!
